Google is the most popular and most used search engine in the world. As of December 2021, it captures 85% of the market share. In 23 years of its existence, it has not once swerved from its dominant position.
What do you think is the reason behind this perpetual dominance of Google over more than two decades?
It is dedicated to providing the best user experience to its audience. Every so often, Google keeps rolling out new features and algorithm updates to provide the best relevant experience to its users.
On April 07, 2022, Google launched two new AI-based features to help users navigate the search results more efficiently. Our CEO and rated best SEO Qamar Zaman curated the method behind the madness in this resource.
Back in the day, the Google SEO dynamics used to be ineffective and inept in several aspects of optimizing the web pages. Marketers practiced several SEO tactics to manipulate their ranks on search engine ranking pages ( SERPs ), including link schemes, link pyramids, and private blogging networks. For example, websites would use white font color on a white background in the name of on-page optimization. Web pages would be stuffed with keywords.
However, Google has been making groundbreaking changes to the platform lately. Search engines rely heavily on artificial intelligence ( AI ) and machine learning ( MI ). Experts believe we are witnessing a time in Google’s timeline that would be remembered as a turning point in the quality of search results after 10-15 years. Google’s latest feature launches are massive and exciting proof of the same.

Google currently provides various individual search mediums — text, image, audio, and Google Lens. Now it provides a feature where you can provide more than input to perform one search.
The Google Multisearch feature combines text and image search at once. Using the Google Lens, users can choose a different way to find what they’re looking for by going beyond the search box and asking questions about what they can see. The feature is currently available only in the US for beta testing.
The reason behind rolling out a multi-search feature, in the words of Google, is so that users can express their needs, regardless of how tricky it is. Not all searches are straightforward to be put together in a single image or textual phrase.
For example, you need to shop for a leather jacket in the same pattern your friend has but in a different color. You do not know the pattern‘s name and can’t use the text search feature. The image search using Google lens will show you the images of the jacket but not in the desired color. With Google multi-search, you can add the jacket picture with your desired color in the text and get the best of both the world – visuals and text.
While the feature is currently limited to shopping, it will gradually expand to answering all kinds of search queries. Moreover, it will enhance the multi-search results in the future by incorporating the functionality of MUM — Google’s latest AI model in search.

Google’s second feature announcement impacts Google Maps and thus, affects the local SEO.
Businesses listed on Google My Business (GMB) have the facility to update their business hours. However, businesses misuse this feature and extend their open hours to gain more inquiry calls. To put an end to this map spam, Google is now introducing a machine learning ( MI ) model to identify the business hours of a business listing on GMB. It will now analyze the opening and closing hours by itself. The analysis will be based on AI-generated predictions and data collected via different sources.
The Google algorithm can collect data for analysis through the following details –
Google is planning to verify and update the business hours of more than 20 million businesses around the globe in the next six months.
If you have provided false business hours on your GMB listing or website, ensure that you change it to the correct information. It can hurt the health of your business listing or local SEO campaign.
These two AI-based features will significantly enhance the quality of the user experience.
